About the Thorncliffe Park Women’s Committee
The Thorncliffe Park Women's Committee is devoted to developing and implementing public space enhancement projects in Thorncliffe Park. We seek to empower the women of Thorncliffe Park to believe they can make a difference in their community through the process of engaging the interest and support of local community leaders, politicians and businesses.
Our culturally diverse group welcomes all interested women and invites them to join us in the process of identifying the needs of our public spaces and planning strategies for change that will have a direct positive impact on the people of our community.

Thorncliffe Park Women’s Committee is pleased to announce the start of our 4th annual Thorncliffe Community Bazaar every Friday from May 25th to July 27th. This bazaar is a vital part of the social and economic fabric of our neighbourhood and it includes activities for the children, performances, park clean ups, food and ware vendors and a fresh produce stand. This event is posted on the City of Toronto special event website. Check out our art exhibit on the first day of the market showcasing fabulous art work by the women in Thorncliffe Park. These art pieces will be later put on sale.
Tandoor Oven Project
Thorncliffe Park Women's Committe is seeking city approval to locate a pre-fabricated Tandoor at R.V. Burgess Park, installed in time for the first fresh food market and community bazaar (May 27).

R.V.Burgess Park, in the Thorncliffe Park neighbourhood
R.V.Burgess Park is located right in the middle of the Thorncliffe Park Housing Development. That development was built in the early 1970's, for 12,000 people. 30,000 people live there now, many of them newcomers. The area is rich in children. The primary school right beside the park may be the largest primary school in North America -- it has over 2000 students between kindergarten and Grade 6. The schoolyard is filled with portable classrooms.
The play structure in R.V.Burgess Park was removed in 2002 and never replaced.

Priority area Thorncliffe Park to get fresh hope in form of cricket field

Source: The Globe and MailOn any given day, stand at the corner of Overlea Boulevard and Don Mills Road at 3 p.m. and watch the flood.
Twelve hundred kids will come streaming out of Valley Park Middle School, which sits on the intersection’s northwest corner, just south of the Ontario Science Centre. Across the street, another 2,000 kids emerge from Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute and another 2,000 from Thorncliffe Park Public School. About 700 walk out of Gateway Public School, and between 600 and 700 pass through the doors of Grenoble Public School.
“You’ve got a good-sized town of kids leaving school at 3 o’clock, just kids, not their parents,” says Jason Hayter, vice principal at Valley Park Middle School. He asks, “Where do they all go?,” although he already knows the answer.
